I love this ski! In the 165 cm. length the 15m radius sidecut is perfect for the steeps. The day I took them for a spin we had gotten 7" of fresh cream cheese the night before. The Free Stars were incredible in untracked and great in the chop, especially considering the 78 mm waist. I found them a bit sluggish as the moisture content in the snow got higher, a little less reliable than a wider-waisted, slightly stiffer ski, but I would take the trade-off for how incredibly surefooted they are in other conditions.

I was lucky enough to ski at Mt. Baker this last weekend and was lucky to be able to test the Free Star. Unfortunately, due to the heavy rain that day, the snow conditions could be best described as heavy crud.
The Free Star excels in these conditions. It has plenty of power to drive through the "mankiest" of snow, yet has plenty of pep to make great turns on the groomers.
I found the 80 mm waist to be a perfect width for this ski. It was wide enough to let the ski float easily through the crud, yet narrow enough to handle carved turns on groomed slopes at medium speed. I think it would be equally comfortable in powder snow, and can't wait to try them there.
I liked this ski so much I immediately bought a pair!

I got the opportunity to test this ski at Mt. Bachelor in the typical late spring crud last April. It performed great on piste, and I was surprised at how well it handled the chopped up crud that we skied in the afternoon off piste. The ski was exceptionally stable in the crud, yet agile.
I recommend it!
